Feedback on the Dell Inspiron 17R (N7110) - Queen 17 Intel

Asked by Grant Phillips-Sewell

The Ubuntu Certification page (https://certification.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201101-6983/) suggests that the above machine should work well with Ubuntu, however it would seem that the webcam is no longer functional with a clean installation of Ubuntu, either 16.04.1 or 16.10.

Hello,
this system was certified with pre-installed Ubuntu, standard images of Ubuntu may not work at all on the system or may not work well.

Can you provide more information about your webcam? Run "lsusb" in a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t) and paste the output back here.

Thanks

Oops,

I spoke too fast, this laptop was certified with 12.04.1 as well. With the webcam from Sunplus (1bcf:2980), if your laptop has the same webcam and it's not working with 16.04, then it should be a bug.

Can you help with this problem?
