Feedback on the HP EliteBook 840 G2 - Chiclet

Hi !
I install ubuntu with :
ubuntu-14.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso
ubuntu-15.04-desktop-amd64.iso

On both of them, I have an issue with the video card :
There is like snow on the screen.

All the others linux distributions present the same errors.

Hello,
this sounds like a video driver issue to me. Please find the model name of your graphic card by following instructions described in this article: "How do I check what hardware components my system has?" [1], and paste the lspci output message back here for further debugging.

Hi,
Thanks for the info! It looks like it's the AMD graphic card to blame.
Maybe your hardware is too new for these two versions here.

You can:
1. Try 15.10
2. If you can boot the system (just with no display) you can try to switch to a Virtual Terminal by hitting Ctrl + Alt + F1, and install a proprietary AMD graphic driver with the following command after login, and with Internet connection:
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install fglrx -y
Reboot to see if it works, with "sudo reboot".
3. If the fglrx driver does not work, you can try the latest driver directly from AMD (http://support.amd.com/en-us/download)

Thanks : it is now working
It was an hardware issues.
Ubuntu 15.10 works fine on it.
