Wireless doesn't support AP mode

Asked by Himanshu Shekhar

This model Inspiron 3543 ships with Broadcom wireless and bluetooth hardware, along with Ubuntu installed. The wifi hardware does support AP mode (for hotspots), tested with Connectify running within Windows 10 on same machine. The lspci output shows that the firmware in use is "wl" which has no AP support, which makes a potentially useful hardware useless.
Also, I have made no successful attempt yet to share a single file over Bluetooth.

Hello,
1. Can you run the following command in a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t), and paste the result back here?
uname -a; lsb_release -a
2. Can you describe how do you share file via Bluetooth? And what happened when you try to do it?

And for your concern in the AP mode, it's not in our scope of certification. But you can still check http://askubuntu.com or http://ubuntuforums.org/ for some useful information.

Thanks
