Hello,
A couple of questions here:
1. Does your laptop came with Ubuntu pre-installed?
2. It looks like you want to run recovery on your laptop? Or it's just can't boot into the desktop?

And for the tool installation, it's off-topic here, I will suggest you to follow this FAQ: Where can I get help or technical support? [1] to get support for these.

Thanks

Hello,
there will be 4 options there in Grub:
Ubuntu
Advanced options for Ubuntu
System Setup
Restore Ubuntu 14.04 to factory state

1. Does the first option (Ubuntu) work for you? This one will do the normal boot.
2. Are you using the 4th option (Restore Ubuntu 14.04 to factory state) for recovery?
3. What message did you see when it fail to do its job?
Thanks
