Feedback on the Cisco UCS C240 M4

Asked by Robert Ronan

I noticed that the Cisco UCS C240M3 is listed as certified but, the C240M4 is not. Interestingly enough Cisco certifies the C240M4 to run 14.04. Is there a specific reason as to why the C240M4 is not listed?

Hello,

Thanks for asking about the C240 M3 vs the C240 M4.

You are correct that the C240 M3 is certified:

http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201403-14834/

However, you are mistaken about the M4 variant. The C240 M4 is also certified for both 12.04 and 14.04. Specifically, it was certified for 12.04.4 and later, and 14.04.1 and later. It was not certified for 14.04GA, but that was Cisco's choice during testing.

Cisco UCS is a very active participant in the Ubuntu Server Certification programme, so expect to see all their current and future systems certified for Ubuntu!

Cheers
Jeff

Jeff,

Thanks for your response. Thats great news. Not sure why the M4 is not listed on the Ubuntu matrix.

What matrix are you referring to?

It IS (As far as I can tell) listed on the Ubuntu Certification site

http://people.canonical.com/~jlane/cisco-cert.png

Note that was a screen shot from about 5 minutes ago, the C240 M4 is the last one in that section.

If you are not seeing it when viewing the same site (I used the link you provided to screen shot that) could you help me out and file a bug and include screen shots:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/certify-web/+filebug

if it's not appearing correctly for some but is for others, that's something that the web team needs to look at, but we'll need screen shots to confirm and explain it.

Thanks,
Jeff
