Feedback on the HP ProLiant SL210t Gen8

Asked by Sotiris Salloumis

For Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit it didn't work with the Controller.

I had to disable HP Dynamic Smart Array from BIOS.

Note in the options there is no option to disable Dynamic Smart Array only to select which Controller to use.

* Press F9 to boot into RBSU
* Navigate to System Options -> SATA Controller options and select Legacy SATA
* Reboot the machine and now you will be able to install the OS.

If you don't follow these steps the OS will be installed but after the installation reboot you will see a Red screen with NMI error message.

Hi,
thanks for sharing this tips, I will mark this one as Answered to make it visible to those who need it.

I'm not sure if this HP Dynamic Smart Array controller is a fake RAID controller or not, but here is a FYI FAQ for fake RAID controllers: Why doesn't my onboard (Fake) RAID work? [1]

Regards.

I've converted this to a bug. It's my understanding that DSA should work in 14.04, but not in 12.04. There was limited or no driver support for HP DSA in 12.04's kernel but should have been added to the kernel for 14.04 (3.13).

Please see the bug for more info, and please help us solve this if we can.
