Wi-fi performance Dell Vostro 5470

Asked by Marc Iulian

Hello,

Wi-fi performance is half from what it should be on Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS.
I've testet both connected to the outlet and on batterry just to exclude any power saving schemas, the result is the same on both. I get around 30-40Mbs on speedtest.net when it should be 90-100Mbs. I've dual-booted in windows and the wi-fi performance is as it should be (~100Mbps). Is this a known bug/issue ? Any help woud be appreciated.
The current kernel running on the machine is: 3.13.0-45-generic

Hello,
What's the model name of your Wifi card (run "lspci -nn | grep Network" in your terminal)?
Did you perform the test on Ubuntu and Windows around the same time? (one right after another)
Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for getting back to me.
My wi-fi card is: Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Wireless 7260 [8086:08b1] (rev 73)
I haven't tried right at the same time, I was using Windows then decided to switch to Ubuntu, but I can guarantee that in Windows the performance was as described above. The test interval was 1 day apart and I've restarted the router before the tests.
Now I no longer have Windows because I like Ubuntu very much and I don;t really need Windows on my laptop. Now I've reinstalled to Ubuntu 14.10 because of the sound problems in 14.02 LTS, and that is fixed now in 14.10, but the Wi-fi issue is still there.
