Hello Feer,
This laptop and this wireless card was only certified with Pre-Installed Ubuntu
http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201310-14260/

It might not work with stock Ubuntu, and this wireless card issue is a known one.
I've link the bug here for you, you could subscribe to it.

Thanks

Hello Po-Hsu Lin

thank you for your rapid answer.
My criterion to choose a TP440 was its certification.
I considered if it works preinstalled so there is a way to get the different components working.
In my profession I need a functional system. This isn't actually the case.
thank you for further support

kind regards

Hello Feer,
Yes, your hypothesis is correct, but for this case it's just not supported in stock image yet.
The pre-installed image may contain certain proprietary driver for it, therefore it could be "certified pre-installed" for Ubuntu, I have linked the FAQ here.
Thanks.
