Feedback on the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E540

Asked by Jörn Horstmann

There are now mutiple bug reports that the lenovo E540 fails to suspend properly using recent bios version, for example <https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1340376> and <https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1331077>. A kernel bug report <https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80351> was closed because this is a bios problem.

I realize the certification for this laptop only mentions bios version 1.06, but it was one of the reasons for me to decide on this laptop model. It's really unfortunate that suspend no longer works for bios version later than 1.61 and shows that lenovo does not seem to test their bioses under linux. If the ubuntu certification team has any contacts at lenovo it would be great if you could forward this information or let me know if there is anything else I can do to resolve this problems.

Hello Jörn,
Thanks for the feedback, I've raised this issue to our Technical Partner Manager.

We would recommend you to report this back to Lenovo.
Since this kind of problem still needs to be fixed by them.

Cheers.
