Installation of Ubuntu 14.04 fails on HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8

Asked by David Turkington

Trying to install Ubuntu 14.04 Server on (brand new) DL380p G8 with 8x1TB SATA disks

During installation (disk configuration) it fails to recognize the disks and asks for the driver...
From the long driver list provided I have tried both items beginning 'hp' - disks still not recognized.
Nothing else on the list seems to mention SATA

Installation cannot proceed.

disks: HP 1TB 6G SATA 7.2K 3.5"

Any suggestion which is the correct driver?

The disks were incidentally not visible in the automatic provisioning screen...

OK it seems I have to press F8 during bootup to configure RAID.
I did that.
Merely pressing F8 seems to have been enough to configure the 8x 1TB disks as 4TB RAID.

So it seems to be installing now.
