Feedback on the Lenovo ThinkPad B5400

Asked by Simon Brante

So it says that this computer is certified by Ubuntu, however I can't seem to install it. Whenever i press "Install Ubuntu" or "Try Ubuntu without installing" in the boot menu it just goes to a black screen with a white line up in the left corner (kind of like when you are writing in a DOS-box?).

How do I go about installing Ubuntu? I found something here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1252987. I don't really understand any of it though.

Hello Simon,
As this system, ThinkPad B5400, was only certified with Pre-Install Ubuntu,
consequently it may not work with stock Ubuntu.

I am not sure which version of Ubuntu you are trying to install, and what error message you got, personally I will suggest you give 12.04.4 a try (since the bug you provided here seems affecting 3.8 kernel, which is 12.04.3)

If it is still not working, maybe you can open a new bug for it.

Good Luck!

Can you help with this problem?
