Ubuntu 13.10 does not recognize my ethernet card of the type: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
on the HP mini 1033 CL, albeit this same card being an Ubuntu certified hardware on the Dell Inspiron 1545 [http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/200912-4896/].

'ifconfig' does not produce an 'eth0' section. Any solutions?

Hello,

Since the system that this device was certified with is a little bit old, this problem could be a regression.
I will suggest you to open a bug for it by using:
"ubuntu-bug linux"
command in the terminal (ctrl + alt + t) window.
