HP Pavilion dm1 - Mouse Keyboard Freeze

Asked by kystarfx

Hi Ubuntu

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my HP DM1 and the keyboard and mouse randomly freezes.
I hate to say that the only reason I don't think it's a hardware fault is that it didn't happen it Windows 7 which I have deleted the partition and installed Ubuntu.

Hope you guys have come across this problem and have a fix. I would love to use Ubuntu as I think you are doing great work.

Best Regards,

Ky

Hello Ky,
unfortunately, this system is only certified with the pre-installed version of Ubuntu.
Stock images may not work properly on it.
(FAQ #2219: “What's the difference between Certified (Pre-Installed) and Certified?”)

But to your question, I got a couple of questions here:
1. The situation "the keyboard and mouse randomly freezes" you described, does it happens on the built-in keyboard / touchpad or the external one?
2. When this happens, does the laptop still working? (e.g. it still playing movies ... etc)
3. How do you recover from this? Reboot? Suspend?

I think maybe you could file this bug base on these questions on the Launchpad.

Regards

Hello Ky,
Sorry, the pre-installed image may contain some proprietary drivers that we do not have the privilege to re-distribute,
therefore we can not provide those OEM images to the public.

Base on your description, I found two possible bugs here,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/947443
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1026697

If it's different from what you're experiencing, you could open a new bug on the launchpad.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs
Good luck!
