Feedback on the ASUS X201E

Asked by Hans

After a clean installation of Ubuntu 12.04 the FN keys for brightness don't work anymore. With the bootparameter "acpi_osi=" they work but without on screen notifications.

Jeff Lane suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #2219: “What's the difference between Certified (Pre-Installed) and Certified?”.

The X201E is currently only certified for the Pre-Installed image provided to Asus. Stock Ubuntu may well have issues. And keyboard keys are a common thing that must be fixed for these custom pre-installed images. The attached FAQ should provide more detail.

seriously?!

The X201 is my first Ubuntu certified device. And the one with the weakest performance of Ubuntu.

After a clean install (with the pre-installed Ubuntu the partition tables were messed up), the following things don't work:

- FN brightness keys
- FN Wlan key
- ethernet
- enter suspend mode (bug #1157435)
