Another issue is with the battery...
From time to time it stops recharging. What is quite annoying.
The solution I found is to let it go through a deep discharge, so it may start charging again. It seems to be something that triggers the battery and enable it to go to charging mode.

You may want to try asking about the battery on the Ubuntu Forums or Ask Ubuntu, as that is probably more a Thinkpad common issue or a kernel one. I've never seen that issue with a thinkpad myself (I've owned 4 of them, but not the newer ones).

But look at that bug... unfortunately, the media card only seems to have worked with the pre-install image that Lenovo provides in some markets, but that system has not been certified with any stock Ubuntu version, mainly because of the card reader problems. This includes both 12.04 LTS and 12.10.

Please follow that bug to see when a fix is introduced.
