Feedback on the Asus 1225C

Asked by lindis

Can I update using update manager with no troubles? There are 466 updates. So I will modify the pre-installed system. What about certification?

It seems that there are problems with audio after upagrading the kernel (no sound from speakers, only from headphones).
The solution seems to be to install the package alsa-hda-realtek-patched-dkms from the repository:
deb http://asus.archive.canonical.com/updates precise-yanshui public
deb-src http://asus.archive.canonical.com/updates precise-yanshui public

Ping to keep this open...

I don't have an answer for you at the moment, I'll need to ask some people about this.

What I can tell you is that the system has NOT been certified for 12.10 yet, so I would not advise you to update right now, just to be sure. I'm afraid that you're seeing the general updates rather than specific updates for that pre-install image. Let me verify how the update process works for pre-install systems and reply to you shortly.

@bladenrn
Thanks for your answer. I update NOT to 12.10 but remaining in 12.04.
I solved the problem about no sound, but Unity works just in 2d.

Jeff Lane suggests this article as an answer to your question:

Thanks Jeff lane,
I put solved to the question.
It remain that Unity works in 2d only though the video chip gma 3600 supports
3d.
May open a bug or is it better to open a question?

No, please do open a bug. I'd open it against the driver package for your gpu.
