W520 64bit

Hello,
I would like to know if there is a possilbilty to get the Ubuntu distribution for the W520 since there are a few very disappointing problems with the ordinary version (especially for the Nvidia Optimus 1000M graphics).

Hi,

First, the FAQ above should explain the issue with the pre-install image used by Lenovo.

second, the W520 only passed certification for the Lenovo pre-installed image for Ubuntu 10.10 which included specific tweaks for that machine. It was not, and probably will not be certified for any later version because of the issues with the Optimus video system. Unfortunately, this applies to most of the systems based on Optimus graphics (the nVidia/Intel hybrid).

I wish there was something more I could tell you that would help, but you may find other information on the Ubuntu forums[1] or Ask Ubuntu[2]
