Feedback on the Dell Inspiron R14 (N4110)

Asked by I Putu Eka Diastawa

I was installing Ubuntu 11.10 in my Dell N4110 with Intel Core I5-2410, VGA ATI Radeon 1GB.
Until now I not installing ATI Driver from the Additional Driver because I not see my laptop hardware in certified list by Ubuntu.
What I must do? Installing ATI Driver or not doing?
Because I try linuxmint 12 in my current laptop and installing ATI Driver, but I cannot boot in normal, just in failsafe graphics mode.

Hello!

The N4110 that we have certified (http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201101-6952) contains Intel graphics, not ATI graphics, so I am afraid we haven't tested that model with a ATI graphics card.

Anyway, the ability to work with proprietary drivers or not has nothing to do with it being certified or not.

I would recommend to ask your question in the Ubuntu forums to see if ATI drivers work with your particular card.

Thanks,
Ara.
