Feedback on the Lenovo Thinkpad T61

can u tell me if ubuntu can be run one a lenovo thinkpad t61 laptop and an emachines el-1200 desktop?

None of these systems are certified and, therefore, there is no guarantee that they will work.

But, Ubuntu works in a wide range of hardware, so I would recommend to try an Ubuntu Live CD, to try it without any changing anything on those systems.

Also, if it helps, I used to run 8.04 LTS on a T61p, which is close, but not necessarily the same as your T61 (this was a few years ago now).

So as Ara suggested, try Ubuntu Friendly, and definitely try with the live CD. As I recall, I had no issues running on my T61p back then. I imagine the only challenge you may have is the video card, I don't recall exactly what GPUs came in those systems.

Good Luck! And if you do install and get Ubuntu running on that machine, Please run the Ubuntu Friendly tests and submit your results so that others can benefit from your experience!
