dell inspiron 1545 touchpad not working

i recently shifted ever to ubuntu 11.10 and my dell inspiron 1545 touchpad which was working fine suddenly ceased to function... the pointer doesnt move, nor do the buttons click and select... is there a codec i can run or install to fix this??
or how am i to solve this issue?

Hi Akash,

This system is certified for 11.10 so your problem is quite surprising. Did you install 11.10 from scratch or upgrade your system from 11.04?

from scratch.... but i did tweek ard the settings panel and managed to fix it :) thanks :)
