Feedback on the Lenovo Thinkpad SL410

Asked by Jullian Gafar

This laptop worked beautifully, except that suspend have never worked ever since new (first was 10.04, now in 11.04). It just blinks the power button and caps lock button. A hard reset is needed to restart the machine. Hibernate works though, but the lack of suspend capability is a real pain.

Hi Julian,

I would recommend asking on general support forums (the Ubuntu project in answers.launchpad.net and/or askubuntu.com) since the SL410 you have is not certified. Most importantly the SL410 was certified only with Ubuntu 10.10 and that too the pre-installed image only. This means that Lenovo sell the SL410 in some markets with a special image of Ubuntu 10.10 with fixes to it. Apart from that the certified SL410 has a Realtek WiFi card rather than an Intel one, although I don't know if this is making the difference here.

Potentially you might want to try the latest development release (Oneiric Ocelot) and see if that fixes the issue, but I don't know for sure if it does.

Good luck!

Can you help with this problem?
