Asked by Thorsten Kreutz on 2011-08-24

I have asked Dell, which Server does Support Ubuntu Server and have got the answer in a chat, that there is no support for ubunto. Dell does only support Red-Hat. How can this Answer from Technican Match to the Hardware-List on UbuntuĀ“s Homepage ?

Thanks for your question.

The certification programme does not guarantee support from the machine vendors.

Canonical tests every certified system with the corresponding Ubuntu image before certifying, ensuring the system works correctly with Ubuntu. After that we test every system for kernel SRUs, before the reach -updates, to ensure no regressions are introduced. This is the main value of buying a certified system.

Apart from that, you can get specif support for Ubuntu, through the Ubuntu Advantage programme:

Thank You.
