Feedback on the Dell Vostro 3350

Asked by Alexandru Carlan

I have various problems with dell vostro 3350 and Ubuntu 11.04, some of them dealing specifically with drivers, some with the system as such. If the laptop is certified with Ubuntu 10.10, how can't it work with Ubuntu 11.04?
Descriptions of my various problems can be found here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1800160
Shall I consider a hardware failure?
My configuration: Dell Vostro 3350 N series, Intel I5 processor ~2,3 GHz, 4 MB Ram, AMD/Radeon VGA, Toshiba 500MB harddisk.

The Vostro 3350 is certified for Ubuntu with a pre-installed image, which is Ubuntu 10.10 with some fixes - mainly extra drivers. The version of Ubuntu 11.04 you downloaded doesn't contain these fixes so will have all of the problems you mentioned. In addition the system we certified had only Intel graphics card and yours has an ATI Radeon one, so there could be additional problems to do with lack of support for that card.

Hopefully you will get some response on the forums helping you to make the most of your machine.

Can you help with this problem?
