Questions about OEM certification

Asked by Bob Gobeille

I would like to know more about OEM certification. Hewlett Packard currently has a relationship to certify our ProLiant line. My inquiry is about our consumer desktops and laptops. I recall a Ubuntu live cd that was used for this. It was nice and simple, and quick. Just boot off the USB and read the report and (optionally) send it to Canonical. Is this all there is to it for laptop/desktops? Please tell me what it takes to get http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/make/HP updated.

Thanks,
Bob Gobeille

Hello Bob,

Right now, for consumer desktops and laptops we also offer Ubuntu Certification. You can download our certification guide from https://certification.canonical.com/

Apart from that, and starting in 11.10, we are building Ubuntu Friendly, a community driven hardware validation program. You can read more and get involved at: http://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuFriendly

Regards,
Ara.
