Feedback on the Lenovo ThinkPad X201 (3926-R3X)

Asked by Kaspar Rothenfusser

There is a problem with the interna audio (hda-intel on Conexant CX20585) which sometimes deactivates the sound over the laptop speakers when undocking. The exact circumstances as to when this happens I don't know, but it is related with the laptop being used on the x200 ultrabase and then being unplugged. Audio over the headphone jack continues to work. A manual switch for this behaviour would be nice (at the moment, rebooting with headphones plugged in and then unplugging them OR unplugging the jack on the docking station before rebooting is the solution)

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in answering this. For some reason your feedback was overlooked. So thank you for providing this feedback on the ThinkPad x201 and the x200 docking station.

Unfortunately, we do not certify things like docking stations, just the laptop itself. To be honest, seeing weird things happen with docking stations is not a new thing, and not specific to Linux either. I stopped bothering with docks years ago because of this kind of issue (along with things like video not working when undocking too).

What I can do is ask that you open a bug, perhaps just generically against the kernel. It may be that someone can find time to look into this and find out what's going on, but to be honest, things like docking station issues are very low priority. However, it never hurts to file the bug. At least then the engineers will become aware of it.

Thanks,

Jeff
