Ubuntu Calendar App

Calendar sync.

I'd be grateful for help with a syncing issue. Suppose I have an appointment which is in both my Gmail calendar and the Ubuntu calendar app on my phone, if I then delete the appointment in my Gmail calendar then sync with the Ubuntu app the appointment reappears in the Gmail calendar instead of disappearing from the Ubuntu app. In other words the information in the Ubuntu app seems to have priority over the information in the Gmail calendar. Is there anything I can do about this please?
