Gnome 2.20 add this support (see http://www.gnome.org/start/2.20/notes/en/).

In Ubuntu 7.10 i suppose that version of Gnome is included.

You can change your desired language on your user details page: http://ubuntero.org/_userdetails/

Support is not there currently for Arabic, Persian/Farsi, or Hebrew.

The available upstream translations are listed here: https://translations.launchpad.net/elgg/trunk/+pots/elgg. Looks like Arabic and Hebrew could use some work, and Persian/Farsi looks almost completely untranslated. If you're able, contributing would be very welcome; this would benefit the entire Elgg project, not just Ubuntero.org.
