Boot from SSD Express Card

Asked by Vidar Johansson

I want to speed up my laptop (actually using a 1.8" harddisk running at 4200 rpm on my HP nc2510p) by using a SSD Express Card as system disk. I have two questions about this subject.
1. Is it possible to boot from an SSD Express Card?
2. At least for Verbatim SSD Express card i know a driver is needed for MAC OS and Windows XP to get the advantage of the full speed potential of this device. Is there such a driver for Ubuntu - or will the speed be more similar to a USB-device?

May be the answers are easy to find in the forum - but I'm new to this forum.

The bootability will depend onm your BIOS. If it can boot it then yes.
The reader wil be attatched to the USB bus so wil run at standard USB speed, there may be special proprietary software to do something to get more throughput but I am unsure of the status of SSD Express, you could dig around to see while somebody else may contribute.

Can you help with this problem?
