Serif option in consideration?

Asked by Fernando Ossandon

Is there any consideration to add -at least- a Serif font option?
I know that one of the ideas behind UberWriter is keep it as much simple as possible, no distraction and clutter free, but in terms of readability, a Mono font is far from adequate for something different than coding.
For my work (write academic manuals and papers to be distributed as e-books) I'm currently using FocusWriter which has fantastic options but a bit limited in terms of exporting formats, where UberWriter excels.
I would love to shift to UberWriter, if it wasn't for the Mono font.

Hi Fernando,

I agree serif would be interesting.

However, since UberWriter is using markdown, it would disturb some of the layout features of uberwriter right now (e.g. this: "## Header Level Two" couldn't be correctly shifted to the left...

I will think about it, and what is planned is a theme loader that would allow you to use a serif font as you wish (with some drawbacks, as described ...). There will also be a »preview« mode, where you can see your converted text in a nice serif font ;)

Regards,

Wol

I think, it is in the essential of Markdown to be in a monospace font, as for plaintext too.

If not using a special markdown editor (e.g. gedit) i usually do intention with tabs or spaces etc. which would not work with a non-monospace font.

Can you help with this problem?
