How to install Media Wiki once I have downloaded the file to my computer?

Asked by Mike Rowan

I am looking for either a step by step guide to install Media Wiki onto my site. The Media Wiki site said that it would be easier by downloading the software applicance, which I did. However, there is really no step by step guide on where to go from there?

Please help!!!

If I understand correctly, you have purchased some type of hosting package and you want to install MediaWiki? If this is the case, a software appliance [1] isn't what you are looking for. You will have more luck with the mediawiki installation guide [2].

TurnKey software appliances are pre-integrated, ready-to-use systems, which can be either installed on a real physical machine or a virtual machine (e.g., using virtualization software such as VMware or VirtualBox). In this case, using a software appliance to deploy a MediaWiki server would be really easy...

I hope the above clears things up...
