Can't log in after installation completed

Asked by Per Lindstrom

Installatron automatically installed TSEP, but after completion I can't log in to admin control panel with username and password used during installation. Admin log in page has path tsep/admin/users/login, but there is no admin map.
I have installed and uninstalled three times now, but the problem persists.
So, I can't actually do anything at all.

This is a bug with installatron, not The Search Engine Project.

I'm guessing the problem is that installatron is storing the password as plaintext, which is highly insecure.

The best solution would be for you to install manually, using the install.php file.

Here are the steps to do it manually (shouldn't take more than 5 min):

1. Download http://launchpad.net/tsep/1.x/1.1/+download/install.php
2. Navigate to the folder you want TSEP install in & delete all the files inside
3. Upload the file from step one to the folder in step two
4. Open install.php in your browser (http://domain/folder from step two/install.php)
5. Follow the onscreen directions.

Hello Geoff,

Thanks for your reply. We had two days of thunder so we've been kind of cut off. Hence my silence.

Followed your instructions to step 4. Then OneClickInstaller starts doing something but it has been five minutes now since it started, no files have been installed, so I guess it is into some kind of endless loop. Browser repeats with a frequencee of 1 Hz "waiting for /my domain -> Ready -> code.jquery.com". It's been almost ten minutes now.

Maybe corrupt file, will download and do it all over again.

Thanx.

Looks like your host doesn't support oneclick installation.

If it still doesn't work:

1. Unzip this file: http://launchpad.net/tsep/1.x/1.1/+download/application.update.zip
2. Upload that file to where install.php is located.
3. Open install.php in your browser

Note that TSEP works best on apache hosts with PHP 5.3+.

<<This is a bug with installatron, not The Search Engine Project.>>

Installatron now lists the latest TSEP 1.1
I have used installatron numerous times with older versions of TSEP, and no problem

Installatron sends the admin login address, user and password by email correctly

when one attempts to log in via the admin page, nothing happens

Also the 'lost password' link on the admin page does nothing

It may be that this is an Installatron issue, but given the changes to TSEP, and given that the contents of the TSEP directory seem totally different to earlier versions (e.g. Cake...), I have my doubts

The TSEP admin login page form code indicates

 action="/tsep/admin/users/login"

this directory does not exist under the installed TSEP

Can you help with this problem?
