Transmission not in system tray in Intrepid

Asked by Rob

In Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04, when i hit the X (close button in top-right of the window), transmission would not actually exit, but stay active in the system tray. I'm used to this behaviour. But now in Intrepid Ibex 8.10, transmission just exits completely. It does not appear in the 'system tray'. I don't see where I can configure this.

Does anyone know how to get it to work like that? Why did they change this?

The default behavior of transmission has changed. For more info please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/transmission/+bug/293188
(Not that I agree with this....)

The short answer is that it's now turned off by default in order to comply with the Gnome Human Interface Guidelines, and you can re-enable it in Edit > Preferences > Desktop.
