request profile for x301 and/or description how to set one up

Asked by meral

Hey all
Thanks for your nice work so far!

So I do the cpu "stress -c 2" test now with my brandnew x301.
Then I measure the temperatures in idle and then in normal use.
After I get these numbers I want you to ask how to proceed:

How do I set the fan speedsteps afterwards?

I fear that stress -c 2 goes very high and my fan does not react accordingly (at it seems that it is ALWAYS on around 4900RPM which would mean that the built-in fan control is quite useless... Well, we'll see.

a) Shall I use interval, anyway? and if, at which sensor at which temperature(viewing at above constants)
b) Shall I try to cool down the cpu first slowly and with higher temperature faster? off | 15% | 30% | ...

Are there any rules of thumb?

Best regards
Patrick

oh: how can I subscribe for news about a profile for the x301?

Okay, I have the data:

Sensor | Top stressed | 1min after | 2 min after | 3 min after | 10 min after
00: 60 50 44 42 41
01: 57 45 44 42 41
02: 46 43 43 42 41
04: 32 32 32 32 32
06: 30 30 30 30 30
08: 40 40 40 40 39
10: 50 48 46 46 45

The build in controller just runs with 45% (about 5000RPM) A L L the time...

Question a) how can I set the interval time? can I set another fan speed than the lowest(15%) during that time? I'd like 45%

Anyway, i pasted a profile but I'd like you guys to help in improving it. It's still too loud because - well - the temperature does not go down magically if the fan is off. So whenever temp rises again, you're fan runs again...

Now the main problem I have, is, that even if the CPU is not stressed AT ALL, the heat goes up.... So the fan is bound to go off all max 2min

Do you have an idea what hardware each sensor refers to?

How can I find out?

Sorry, question remains.
But I'd say, the first and probably also the second sensor are close to the CPU and the 4th and 5th are far away...
