where is this going?

Asked by pjv

I'm an avid user of Tomboy myself. As an Android app idea I fear there might be a lot of competition in the Notepad-clone area. But the Tomboy-syncing part sure is worth looking into. Do you have any idea how you are going to do this? Over the internet? In that case Giver comes into my mind but also http://groups.google.com/group/androidstandards/browse_thread/thread/8b52dcd26aada8ef . I'd sure be willing to try and do some brainstorming with you...

Hi pjv,

Thanks for your feedback.

For the begining i'll be more focused on fetching the information from the Internet rather than pushing it. I haven't even done a single "hello World!" in Android yet and I want to tackle the parsing of the xml notes format early also.

If you haven't read the project announcement on tomboy-list I suggest you check it out: http://lists.beatniksoftware.com/pipermail/tomboy-list-beatniksoftware.com/2008-September/000862.html

I suggest you to subscribe to the tomdroid-dev group I will try to regurlarly publish my progress there.

As far as sync is concerned, once the time comes around, I'll post on the list with proposals on how I am looking to attack the problem.

You'd want to take the full Notepad sample as a starting point.

Let's see what this turns out to be in December, and if you are interested in continuing with it then. Don't hesitate to contact me then if you want a more-than-one-man project.
