Syncing Tomboy and Tomdroid using Dropsync

Asked by Michael Dobstadt

I read something about the possibility to sync Tomdroid and Tomboy using Dropsync; however, it does not work as I expected it. Would it be possible to give a "how-to"? It would be very helpful.
With kind regards,
Michael

Hi!

I have no idea how people do this :-D
It isn't a officially supported feature as we never designed our sd-card sync approach to connect it to dropbox.
However, we might build a gdrive/dropbox sync sometime (as soon as we have a mechanism figured out with the Tomboy guys!)

Sorry for that,
Stefan

I have done this by doing the following on windows and linux:

1- Install Tomboy on computer
2 - Create symlink to move your notes folder to your dropbox and keep it as an always up to date copy
3 - Install Tomdroid 0.7.2 on device
4 - Set up sd card sync to wherever you have Dropsync set to go

The only problems I have had with this is that the links between notes do not seem to work well. But it serves to keep an updated set of notes wherever I need it.

In order to sync to the phone you need to refresh in this order
1- Dropsync (usually happens automatically anyway)
2 - Tomdroid

I actually use this method to keep notes on three computers, one phone, and one tablet in real time sync. The key being that the Tomboy folder with the notes is symlinked into my dropbox.

The problem with the links between notes not working well only occurs on the Tomdroid side.

Can you help with this problem?
