x86_64 architecture .deb's

I see in a previous question that an earlier version of timevault installs on x86_64 Ubuntu. Can the newer packages of timevault be modified to allow install on x86_64 machines? Maybe add a ia32-libs dependency if needed?

I like the expiration features in the newer versions of the software that is missing in 0.7.3 (latest version able to install on x86_64 arch).

Relative Newbie here.

Is not correct method, but work.

I need to install ia32-libs. After that download package timevault_0.7.5-1_i386.deb and open terminal at the folder where you download package and write in terminal
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture timevault_0.7.5-1_i386.deb

Dpkg list dissatisfied depend. Install their and try again installation.

I installed timevault_0.7.5-1_i386.deb on Intrepid x86_64 following Vladimir's instructions above. I was pretty sure I had ia32-libs installed, so I just went ahead and did "dpkg -install --force-architecture timevault_0.7.5-1_i386.deb." That gave me errors that the following dependencies were not met so TimeVault could not be installed:

python2.5-dev
python-nautilus
python-gobject-dev
meld

Then I just used apt-get to install the above list of dependencies, and then repeated the dpkg command. This time TimeVault installed without error.

I restarted the computer, but there is no TimeVault icon in the systray. (I assume systray means Gnome panel.) I added /usr/bin/timevault-notifier to the Startup tab in System > Preferences > Sessions and restarted the computer again. I still do not have a TimeVault icon in the systray.

I understand there should also be a TimeVault tab in a Properties window in Nautilus, but I do not have a TimeVault tab there.

Looking at System > Administration > System Monitor it shows timevault-notif is running.

I am out of ideas. Can anyone suggest other things I can try?

Also, can one contribute money to this project?

I should add that several hours after the above installation my computer locked up - mouse and keyboard dead. With no mouse or keyboard the only option was to power off and restart.

The computer never locked up before, and installing TimeVault was the only change, so it is logical that TimeVault caused the lockup. Therefore, I have uninstalled TimeVault. That was yesterday and there have been no lockups since.

Can you help with this problem?
