Use external harddisk as backup device

Asked by Alexander Herrmann

Hi there,

first thanks for the great tool.
I wonder if it should be possible to backup to an external hard drive as I can only select my local harddrive (see https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/1/view/snrn7lzrnr9r06r/Apps/Shutter/Auswahl_001.png).
I' using Ubuntu 14.10 with Thimeshift 1.7.1, the external harddrive comes from /dev/sdb1 and is mounted to /media/<username>/<drivelabel>.

Thank you!

I agree with Alexander, it is a great application.
However, it would be even better if one could backup directly to an external HD.

I don't seem to have this issue. On my laptop running Linux Mint I have a thumb drive mounted and have the option to select that thumb drive as my destination backup device, also mounted at sdb1.
I currently have Timeshift 1.7.2 installed. Maybe try upgrading?

Hm, even with Timeshift 1.7.2 I can't select the external drive.
