How can I free disk space again after stop using Timeshift?

Asked by Ivo Sieben

Hello,

I installed Timeshift to try it out... looks great and very intuitive, but I have only a very small HDD in my Ubunut laptop of 300 GB. Turned out that after creating the first snapshot my disk usage grew from 46% to 80%. (quite large since my documents etc. are exlculed) I understand that future snapshots will be incremental, but this is too much for me.

So I removed the Timeshift snapshot, but my HDD usage is still 80%.

How can I free the extra memory usage introduced by Timeshift?

Regards,
Ivo Sieben

I figured it out myself... actually it was too easy. The disk usage was because of a hidden /timeshift/snapshots/.rsync

'sudo rm -rf /timeshift/' did the trick.
