Additional Features - make linux a better and safer place for kids too
Hi Devs,
I am thinking of giving my old Sony pc to my kid which runs windows now and I have to be around when they are on internet just to make sure they are ok. I am planning to install Ubuntu on it with tools like timekpr, apps for children education and few games and give move the pc to their room. Timekpr is quite good tool for controlling children access to computers. However I am thinking of few additional features in it will make it more fabulous. I have listed down few features that I would like to have in my kid's pc. Here are my thougts (PS: Some of them are already built into timkpr marked *):
. Creation of parental control users with default settings (age specific settings)
. Limit access duration per day *
. Limit time frame access per day *
. Limit internet access time frame and duration per day
. User level permissions to applications
. Limit application access time frame and duration per day
. Approve additional ad-hoc reward times for a day (remotely from web interface)
. Approve additional ad-hoc reward application access for a day (remotely from web interface)
. Approve additional ad-hoc internet reward time for a day (remotely from web interface)
. Lock user for a day (remotely from web interface)
. Log of access per child user per day
. Log activities done per child user per day
. Display information of access left to the user
There are few other features that I have jotted down which does not come into timkpr scope so I have not listed them here.
I know I am asking for too much. However, I am a programmer can do python, php and few other stuff, so I can take some burden off of your shoulders to make linux a better and safer place for kids too. :)
Let me know your opinions.
Thanks
