Multiple logins after time gone gives more time?

Asked by webservant

My wife and I use timekpr to limit our children's time on the computer.
We like it a lot, and thank you for maintaining it!

I just witnessed my son (who had time left = -1) login to the computer.
When I checked after this, he was at time left = 117.

He stated that he found when he logs in multiple times after he gets to this point, the program gives him more time.
Frankly, I don't buy it. Rather I think that he knows my wife's password, and uses her account to give himself more time.
Especially since his time left is suspiciously close to two default clicks adding more time (+60).

So, how do I tell?
Is there a log for the GUI that shows the granting of more time?
If not, what would you need me to gather if I can make the behavior happen (e.g., logs, traces, etc.).

We're on Ubuntu 10.04 (32-bit) with the latest version (0.3.2) of timekpr.

Sorry! It doesn't look like that information is logged.

I do think your son has got your wifes password, I can see no other explanation.

Same opinion here. Change your wife's password or advise her to change it to
something more secure and see what happens. :)

I have just noted my daughter do a similar thing, she was meant to be cut off at 8.30 but at ten past nine she was still on, it kept throwing up a warning that you have less then 2 minutes left and did this for the 20 minutes i watched it, then it flashed up she had 4 minutes left, then back to 2 minutes, all the while she was on facebook and kept restarting a you tube video, she does not know my password.

not sure what was going on, but will check some things, it seemed to be working fine until one time i had to add 60 mins on for additional time ( pressing the extend/bonus time button) after that it was being a bit weird.

she has the most up to date version of ubunti also and timekpr too

Simon:
That sounds like a separate issue.

Does this happen all the time? Is it OK now? Could you try to remove all restrictions on your daughter and set her up again. See if the problem persists.

I have no other idea. Sorry!

Can you help with this problem?
