notifications (playtime) on Raspberry Pi OS

Asked by papp nase

Can you please tell me what's needed to make notifications work ?

I Installed this version https://debian.pkgs.org/11/debian-main-arm64/timekpr-next_0.5.0-2_arm64.deb.html on Raspberry Pi OS 64 bit (bullseye).

It works in general, but i don't get notifications (i see a icon in taskbar - but never get notifications).

i already installed the necessary packages to make "notify-send" work. Are you not using notify-send ?

First of all, 0.5.0 is rather old version, latest in Debian is 0.5.2, but current stable is 0.5.4.
There were some updates to PT notifications, but they should work just fine in 0.5.0 version. Timekpr is using DBUS based notification delivery, not notify-send.

Just go to icon, set up limits and when PT left will approach the configured limit, there should be a notification.

Say, if you want to warn user 10 minutes before PT will run out, just set 10 minutes as warning in the app (icon) and 10 mins before PT will run out, user will get a notification about PT left.
