The (SU) Timekpr-nExT control panel (superuser mode) does not open

Asked by Amendola

Hello !

I am running with debian 10. I downloaded and install the 0.5.0-2 version of timekpr-next but when clicking on the (SU) Timekpr-nExT control panel icon, nothing happens.

I added myself to timekpr system group as suggested in the ReadMe page and the client application opens in administration mode, which allows the settings. But other users don't have any access to the application (the (SU) app doesn't open and the client app opens in administration mode but with access denied) and they have no access to the informations about the limits I set, only notifications (but I can't modify the parameters for the notifications).

I don't know why the (SU) app does not open and I guess that would be very useful for a better use. Could you help me ? Unfortunately I am a total noob in linux using (and I am not native english speaker ...).

Bart.

If I understood the situation right, you were able to adjust settings for all of your users.

The other users do not need to open administration app, they have an icon in the system notification area where they can see the limits.

If they don't have that icon and you are running Gnome3, you need to install additional extension "KStatusNotifierItem/AppIndicator Support".

Let me know whether this helps.

Thank you for this quick answer.

Yes I think you understood my problem !

As users don't have the icon I installed the extension you mentionned, but it doesn't work. The icon appears just a few seconds when the computer is starting but then it disappears and I can't find it anywhere else.

Ok, that is strage, tet's try goin step by step.

Make sure you did not enable hide icon and notifications checkbox for the users, if you are not sure, please send me the configuration files from /usr/lib/timekpr/config directory.

If it's not checked, plz open terminal ans run:
    timekprc
The post an output here.

Ok you were right, I disabled notifications from timkpr in the administrator session, now the icon appears.

But it doesn't in the user session (and I checked from the admin panel of timekpr, the notifications are enabled for users). And the user doesn't have access to the application on his session.

You need to install that extensions for every user, if extension is not installed, icon will not be there.
Let me know if this solves the issue.
