Clicking on a link in thunderbird results in Firefox can't find server at server at www.%u.com.
I've found that on more than one occasion, upgrading major versions of Thunderbird results in an error when clicking on links.
Firefox opens, but reports "can't find server at server at www.%u.com."

The solution is simply to go to Settings,Preferences, Preferred applications and change the Internet web browser command
to (for example):
 firefox-3.5 %s

for some reason it had been changed to firefox-3.5 %u - and that caused the problem
