Reported download speed is incorrect

Asked by dsavi

When I download an ISO, TestDrive reports download speeds up to 5mb/s. Looking at my network monitor, the actual speeds vary from ~300kbps to ~800kpbs. As much as I'd like to pretend that TestDrive is telling the truth and my network monitor is lying, the thing is that the cables to my house are actually incapable of delivering speeds of over 8mbit/s. I'm running Karmic.

That's the incremental rsync (or zsync) doing its job ;-)

You already have a cached version, and just the changes are being downloaded. The progress indicator from rsync (or zsync) takes that into account.
