Terminator

Terminator on lubuntu doesn't support background images

You can go to Preferences > Profile > Background and it won't have the option for an image.

You don't mention version of Terminator, but assuming you are using gtk3, the feature was removed because the underlying widget (vte) removed the capability. I have a proof of concept for restoring it, but it was quite involved and hairy.
