Plugin's configuration options documentation

I'm writing a plugin for Terminator and this plugin needs to have configuration options in preferences. I reviewed the terminator documentation but there wasn't any explanation.

How can I create a panel with some widget like input box or list box?

It was never developed. A few plugins (i.e. Custom Commands) have a Preferences option that pops up a completely separate window. So there is no guide or explanation. As ever, this being open source, feel free to take a stab at doing it, but no problem if you are not keen. It's a can of worms I never felt like digging in to.
