Alternating background line colors

Asked by vinay

Hello folks,

Is there a way to make the alternate lines appear in different background ? I used to do it by setting an image as the background of the terminal but now that option seems to be gone and not coming back anytime soon.

Kind Regards,
.

Hmmm. Interesting idea. Terminator is (for now) not able to do this. If I ever get a decent chunk of time to devote to new work on Terminator, I have an external proof-of-concept that will return the background image abilities. Another option (and probably cleaner overall) would be to make a request against the libvte component to add the alternating background colours. The final thing I can think off, perhaps there is some way to use bash escape codes to set background of alternating lines. I have no idea if that is actually possible, but I'm constantly amazed at some of the stuff people manage to do with these kind of tricks.

As you suggested, I made a request to VTE folks and they said they are not planning to do it.

I guess I will find another way. Thank you all.
