Feature request: open new terminal with current PWD

Asked by aaaa on 2016-12-06

Hi guys,

thanks for Terminator, it is great and functional!

I have a feature request and I think it is dead simple:

In OSX's iTerm (i think), ctrl-N while focused on a terminal window will create a New terminal which will change directory (cd) to the parent's PWD. VERY good (but this is OSX)!

Terminator has something similar but not quite ... Opening a new TAB will cd to the parent's PWD.
Great! But I hate tabs for some reason unknown to me and so I do not use them at all. I prefer to open a new window.

So, how about opening a new WINDOW and cd to parent's PWD just like opening a new TAB ? Can a menu entry and a shortcut action be added when right-clicking on a terminator terminal?

Over the net there are various 'hacks' to open a terminal (not just terminator but anything really) and cd-ing to *last known* PWD. Well this is a very poor hack which involves writing to files etc. and should be banned. What I am asking is not the same.

Many Thanks

I have just found out by looking at the Keybings (and I should have read the Manual, sorry) that the feature I have asked is already there:

open_terminal binded to Shift-Ctrl-I opens a new terminal window and cd's to parent's PWD.

Many Thanks,
