Is there a way to save host profiles including login information?

Asked by Dan Dascalescu

Pardon me if this isn't in the scope of the project. I'm looking for a terminal app like PuTTY, Zoc or SecureCRT, which can save host profiles - hostname, login, SSH key, maybe host-specific display settings like color schemes.

Can Terminator do that?

I created a new profile and checked the three checkboxes in the Command tab, and added the ssh command to log into another machine, but nothing happens when I switch to that profile.

The command only works at startup. So if you launched terminator with "--profile XYZ" then it would run the command. Switching to a profile cannot execute a command within the terminal, because the terminal already has a running command (typically the bash command.)

Terminator does not specifically deal with ssh, hostnames, keys, and so on itself. However you can setup ssh using the ssh_config, plus Terminator commands and dedicated profiles to give all this.

Can you help with this problem?
