Can you take an existing terminal in a split screen and move it to a new window?

Asked by Tony on 2015-06-17

After opening multiple terminals in a window by splitting the screen, can I "pop out" one of the terminals into a new window? Conversely, can I take a terminal in one Terminator window and move it into a different Terminator window as a new split?

You can drag the terminals titlebar and move a terminal to an existing window, provided that the source and target window are part of the same process. i.e. you used Ctrl+Shift+i to create a new window instance. If they are separate processes this will not work.

Dragging a terminal out to new a new window does not work at all. I remember looking at it a bit, but finding the drag and drop mechanics rather confusing.

Workaround, you can create a new window with Ctrl+Shift+i, move the terminal there, and close the extra one ;).

Can you help with this problem?
